Procurement cases:

Situation: A trader in South Africa was buying about 10,000 quality dresses in USA annually at an average price of $28 per dress (CIF-Johennesburg). Additionally, the trader was spending about $10,000 annually for 4 business trips to USA making the total annual cost of $290,000 for 10,000 dresses.

Solution: After contracting with Lulu Impex to handle sourcing and procurement, Lulu Impex was able to supply comparative quality dresses at $20 each (CIF-Johannesburg), saving the trader about $90,000 annually.

Situation: An auto dealer in Middle East was paying a car dealer in USA $550 fee per vehicle sourced by the dealer to cover sourcing, inspection and documentation fee. This fee is payable on top of actual cost of purchase and shipping.

Solution: By using the services of Lulu Impex the car dealer is saving about $300 on the cost of purchasing and shipping on each vehicle. Additionally Lulu Impex is charging the dealer only $199 for sourcing, inspection and shipping. The savings on purchase cost of $300 plus savings of about $350 for sourcing, inspection and shipping now allows the auto dealer in Middle East to save $550 per vehicle. The dealer’s annual requirement is 100 cars which translates into $55,000 savings annually.

Marketing cases:

Situation: An African company engaged in export was agricultural produce was struggling to establish a reliable market for its produce. It was getting expensive to penetrate the US market due to FDA requirements and in getting the products being considered by retail chains.

Solution: By engaging Lulu Impex, we were able to get all the necessary approvals in a relatively quick turn around and educated the exporter on US requirements. We were able to successfully negotiate a supply contract on behalf of the company with two supermarket chains. Demand of the two chains was sufficient to buy all annual merchandise of our client.

Situation: An East African tour operator company was looking for a long term and serious partner in USA to market its tour packages to the USA market. The company was strong in service delivery but weak in marketing.

Solution: After consultation with Lulu Impex, this company was advised to make several major changes to its marketing strategy including overhauling the company website. Lulu Impex was able to effectively connect the tour operator with several USA tour companies to form profitable partnerships.
